To everyone my grandad seemed as big as a giant but in reality he was average height. This is because he is so tough and helpful. His hair was thick, wiry, grey like a stormy day. Even though he had a kind face it was weathered and toughened by the hours spent in the sun. The blue of his overalls was disguised by the many layers of oil and grease. His hands were hard and leathery from all the tinkering with the machinery. Inside he would wear his slippers with a warm, wooly pair of socks. “No shoes inside!” my nan would say to him.
He is one of those types of people that has to be perfect because I am sure he would be in excruciating pain if it wasn’t. We often say to dad “ stop doing a grandad.” He also loved tinkering with machinery and loved pottering round in the garden, the washing, tidying things etc.
Luckily I knew a story about the never ending teapot. It got it’s name by grandad topping it up until all the flavor was gone. You could also seen how much he drunk by the stain on his cup. That’s when he would say “it could do another turn.”
I learnt that I had something in common with grandad. We both savor things like lollies and chocolate. He would also always be on for a yarn no matter how busy he was.
He was very kind and would always put others before himself. That’s also why he had so many jobs on the go. He was big on community spirit because he loved his community.
He was never in my life that much but I will always have a memory of him. If I want to remember I look at the chicken photo I got from him or I will savor some more lollies just for him. But one thing I will wonder is what was he like back when he was a child?

The beast
The Beast
It was a dark stormy night and I was admiring the moon. It has been bitten by someone. It was so peaceful until. Bang! I started to sprint I was frightened. But I also exhilarating I back and saw this black, big wide eyed creature chasing me. But it flashed and I saw nothing. I stopped and looked around I could only see the forest trees and the shimmer of my fire. I only briefly looked away and then looked back and my fire was out. Damit! I could hear someone creeping. I called out for help. But nobody came.

100 word challenge
100 word challenge
Bang! In land of nowhere robots have taken over. They are building a gold machine that looks like a snail's shell. Puffs of smoke roaring out like a train. The swirl in the middle looked like it was endless. Sharp shatters of glass fell off this unthinkable machine. There was no more soaring birds. There wasn’t even a blue sky or any white, fluffy clouds. But then the robots have suddenly been programed to unbuild the machine but it shot back somehow. Bang! Pow! But they had both the robots and the machine broke but the machine still there today.

Science Experiment
Today we did an experiment. It was where you light both ends of a candle, have wire or nails through the candles and balance it on top of two cups. It would be good having a tray under your cups. It might spin.
Do you think it will spin?
